Oklahoma has five of its top wide receivers listed with the status of "out" on the SEC-mandated injury report this week before Red River. One of the top wideouts that is set to miss Red River for the Sooners this weekend who was expected to be a major contributor as an outside receiver in this offense was redshirt sophomore Nic Anderson.

The big 6-foot-4 and 220-pound possession receiver Anderson has missed almost every game for the Sooners this season due to a lingering quad injury. Anderson has made just one appearance for Oklahoma this season, playing nine offensive snaps in the SEC opener loss at home to Tennessee in Week 4.

Anderson is reportedly likely to miss at least another two weeks for the Sooners due to the aforementioned quad strain injury.

Oklahoma's other injured wideouts in this game includes Jalil Farooq, Andrel Anthony, Jayden Gibson, and Deion Burks. Gibson is out for the season after he suffered a knee injury in fall camp. Anthony is still recovering from an ACL injury he had last season in Red River. Farooq broke his foot in OU's season opener against Temple, and is still recovering in a walking boot from that lower-body injury.

Anderson was Oklahoma's second-leading receiver last season, only ranking behind senior Drake Stoops in receiving yards. He racked up 38 catches for nearly 800 receiving yards and double-digit touchdown catches for the Sooner offense in his first year as a starting wideout in 2023.
