ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Oct. 10 that junior slot wide receiver Deion Bruks "is not expected to play" against the Longhorns in Red River this weekend due to a lingering injury issue.

On the first SEC-mandated injury report this weekend, Burks was listed as "questionable" for the Sooners. But he was later downgraded to "out" for his status on the SEC injury report on the Thursday update for Oklahoma on Oct. 10.

Burks is reportedly dealing with a soft tissue injury that's lingered for him for the past few weeks.

This is the second straight game that Burks will miss for the Sooners. He also missed Oklahoma's first-ever SEC win on the road a couple of weeks ago against the Auburn Tigers.

Oklahoma's receiving corps has been decimated by injuries early this season. Burks is one of five of the top OU receivers who are listed with statuses of "out" on the injury report for Red River this weekend against the Longhorns.

Burks is Oklahoma's leading receiver this season. He ranks No. 1 for the Sooner offense in receptions (26), receiving yards (201), and receiving touchdowns (three).

Burks got off to a fast start this season, with all three of his receiving touchdowns coming in OU's season-opening win over Temple in Week 1. He led the Sooners in receptions and receiving yards in the next two weeks combined in non-conference play wins over Houston and Tulane.

Sophomore Jaquaize Pettaway took the most snaps at slot receiver for Oklahoma's offense against Auburn in Week 5. Pettaway is expected to start for the Sooners at slot receiver this weekend against Texas in Red River in Dallas.
