In the first week of the winter NCAA Transfer Portal window, Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian got off to a nice start by adding immediate-impact commitments at positions of need. But Texas's three portal commitments over the weekend in the first week of the winter transfer window will all fill spots on the two-deep on the defensive side of the ball and special teams.
Texas football hosting more big-time portal priority targets for visits this week
Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff are actively shopping needs positionally on offense to bolster the roster in key spots for the 2025 season in the winter portal. Early this week, the Longhorns will host a couple of key portal targets, including one highly sought-after transfer wide receiver from another P4 school.
Texas is looking to add multiple immediate impact transfers to fill positional needs at running back, receiver, tight end, and possibly offensive line for the upcoming offseason.
Here are three possible portal targets on the offensive side of the ball who would be perfect fits with Sarkisian's scheme for the Longhorns.
Duce Robinson, WR (USC)
The Longhorns are looking to add at least one (maybe two) immediate-impact receivers from the portal in the winter transfer window to replace what Sarkisian and Chris Jackson are losing to the NFL Draft next spring for 2025.
Texas is potentially losing multiple big-time playmakers to the NFL Draft next spring at wideout, including juniors Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond.
Former USC Trojans sophomore wide receiver Duce Robinson (the No. 2 transfer wide receiver, according to 247Sports) would be a massive potential addition to Texas's receiver room for the 2025 season. He has multiple years of eligibility remaining and would give the Longhorns a true two-sport star in football and baseball.
Wide receiver is one of those positions in the transfer portal that the Longhorns have plenty of options to find help from quality impact players from other proven P4 and G5 schools.
Robinson's talent and natural athleticism takes his appeal to a different level than your average proven transfer receiver in the portal in the winter window. The 6-foot-6 and 220-pound former Texas tight end recruiting target is a rare athlete, who possesses tremendous size, wingspan (at 6-foot-10), and speed and yards-after-the-catch ability at the receiver position.
Robinson has registered at least one explosive receiving play in over 60 percent of the games he's played since the 2023 season.
It's insane to think about what Texas's receiving corps could do with talent in the mix featuring Ryan Wingo, Jaime Ffrench, Kaliq Lockett, and potentially Robinson all wideouts catching passes from Arch Manning in the SEC.
