As Sean Miller starts to turn the Texas men's basketball program into his own, the former Xavier Musketeers head coach should bring a handful of players to Austin with him.
On Sunday, March 23, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte announced that the Horns had parted ways with former head coach Rodney Terry. Before Del Conte announced that the program had hired Miller, local reporters and inside sources broke the news on social media.
Many of his starters during the 2024-25 season were in their final year of eligibility but there were a few standout sophomores and one junior who would make great additions to the Longhorns' roster.
Ryan Conwell is no stranger to the transfer portal. The junior guard transferred to Xavier after spending his first year with the USF Bulls and then his sophomore season with the Indiana State Sycamores.
Conwell averaged 33 minutes per game for the Musketeers this season and produced 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per appearance.
Despite just being a sophomore, Dailyn Swain became a consistent member of the Musketeers' lineup. The young guard averaged 28.4 minutes for Miller during this season and was able to put up 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Swain's fellow sophomore teammate Trey Green wasn't a starter for the Musketeers last season but he did produce significant stats while coming off the bench for his team.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, he clocked 11 minutes per appearance and was able to contribute five points and one assist per game to the Musketeers' state line.
Beyond any players who stay in Austin and the players who Miller is able to bring with him to Texas, he will be able to tap into the transfer portal to bring in players who are looking for a new program to call home.
