For the second time in his collegiate career, junior defensive tackle Bear Alexander has declared his intentions to enter the transfer portal. Two years ago, Alexander transferred from the Georgia Bulldogs to join head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans defensive line.

After spending a little under two seasons at USC, Alexander has decided to redshirt for the rest of the 2024 campaign and enter the transfer portal for the second time since the 2023 offseason.

Per 247Sports' Mike Roach, multiple SEC schools are in the mix for Alexander in the transfer portal for the winter window next month. Among the SEC programs mentioned by Roach that could be interested in Alexander in the portal, the LSU Tigers, Alabama, and Texas are all included.

During his two seasons at USC, Alexander registered 53 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four batted balls, 30 defensive stops, and 34 quarterback pressures.

Alexander is a native of Terrell, TX, and attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, before signing with Georgia in the 2022 recruiting class. Both Texas and Alabama recruited Alexander out of high school, before he committed to head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia.

Regarding his size (6-foot-5 and 315-pounds), proven experience in the P4, and proximity to Austin being from East Texas in the state, Alexander does have some valid connections to fill a need at defensive tackle for the Longhorns' defense in 2025.
