3 problematic Arkansas players vs. Texas

Texas and Arkansas reignite a historic rivalry for the first time since the 2021 season in what should be a fun matchup in Fayetteville on Nov. 16.

Taylen Green, QB

At 6-foot-6 and 215-pounds, junior dual-threat Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green can be a nightmare to matchup against for the Longhorns' defense. When Green is at his best, his combination of arm strength, running power, and speed with his legs makes him almost impossible to defend given all the ways he can help the Arkansas offense get out in space and generate explosive plays.

Green hasn't been all that consistent for the Arkansas offense this season, though. He can make mistakes too often at times that costs the Hogs big games against P4 opponents during the regular season.

If you want to know the story about Green's season so far for the Razorback offense, he ranks second in the SEC in big-time throws (16) and second in turnover-worthy plays (15). Green is about as boom-or-bust as it gets among SEC quarterbacks this season.

Green missed the second half of Arkansas' 30+ point loss to the Ole Miss Rebels a couple of weeks ago.

I do want to mention that it sounds like Green has more certainty of giving it a go this weekend against the Longhorns than stud Arkansas running back Ja'Quinden Jackson. Pittman said on Monday (Nov. 11) that Green "practiced last week" and he expects Taylen to be "fine" for the Texas game this upcoming weekend.

The way to get to Green and cause him to make mistakes is to blitz him and keep him under consistent pressure with the pass rush. Despite only being blitzed on roughly 36 percent of his dropbacks this season, Green has eight turnover-worthy plays and a half-dozen fumbles he's coughed up when the defensive front blitzes him.
