Texas Women's Basketball traveled to Oxford, MS, to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. Today was Madison Booker's homecoming game. She had her family and relatives there to cheer her on. After the opening tip-off, the Rebels immediately went into a half-court press.
It threw the Longhorns off their game in the first quarter. Fans haven't seen the Longhorns go through this before this season. You could tell at the end of the first quarter that it would be a rough game for Texas.
The Longhorns kept up with the Rebels until the final minute, when they pulled ahead and won the game 61-58. I wish I could say I was happy with the win this afternoon. However, today was the worst game I've seen the Longhorns play this year. I'm not one to say that lightly because they have played great basketball this season.

Shooting nine percent from beyond the arc isn't good for any college basketball team. One thing to watch is Aaliyah Moore's injury. She was warming up this afternoon when her knee started to bother her. Hopefully, she will be back for Thursday's game. Here are the three takeaways from the Longhorns' narrow win this afternoon.

Takeaways from Texas women's basketball comeback win vs. Ole Miss: 3. Bad three-point shooting
Let's start with the three-point shooting this afternoon. As mentioned, the Longhorns finished nine percent from beyond the arc this afternoon. They only made one three-point shot the entire game. Give credit to the Rebels for limiting the Longhorns to a single three-point basket.
Vic Schaefer will have the ladies in the gym working on that tomorrow. That is something that can't happen again during conference play. If you can't make a three-point shot, attack the rim.
2. Losing the turnover battle
The Longhorns lost the turnover battle, which rarely happens under Schaefer. Due to the suffocating Rebels defense, the Longhorns turned the ball over 13 times. The Longhorns are lucky they could keep up with them into the fourth quarter.
Losing the turnover battle in the SEC could be the difference between winning and losing. Luckily, the Longhorns were able to come back and win the game this afternoon.
1. Taylor Jones stepping up
Taylor Jones stepped up this afternoon when Booker was double-teamed when the Longhorns had the ball. Jones was the leading scorer for the Longhorns with 24 points this afternoon. What's impressive is that she finished the game without missing one free-throw attempt.

Schaefer will be sad when her career is over after this season. She has been a force in the paint this season and has stepped up on offense when they needed her. The Longhorns are back at the Moody Center on Thursday night, hosting the Mizzou Tigers.
