Texas Women's Basketball didn't have to travel far for tonight's game against the Texas A&M Aggies. Texas needed a quick start tonight to avoid what happened against Missouri the other night. The last thing you want is to do that against your rival.

Madison Booker and Rori Harmon started strong and helped the Longhorns win 70-50 over the Aggies this evening. It was a much better performance than the previous two games they played.

Booker and Harmon needed to have great performances tonight. They were the top two scorers for the Longhorns this evening. They looked like the fearsome duo that struck fear into their Big 12 opponents last season.

I thought this was their best complete game in the previous week and a half. They took Texas A&M out of the game early and ran away with the win tonight. Here are the three takeaways from tonight's victory over the Aggies in College Station.

Takeaways from Texas women's basketball's win over Texas A&M: 3. Taking the Aggies out in the first half

The Longhorns prevented the Aggies from doing any damage in the first half tonight. The Aggies' shooting percentage at halftime was 34.8 percent. Doing that to an opponent will drive them crazy. That was the Longhorns' signature defense that has been missing in recent games.

Even though the Longhorns only won by 20 points tonight, that was some good defense from the Longhorns. They might need to do it again on Tuesday against the standout freshman from Vanderbilt on Thursday.

2. Making better shots was better tonight

The Longhorns were very selective in their shots tonight, which helped them beat the Aggies. The ladies were very confident in their shot selection and didn't force any bad ones, like against Missouri. The confidence tonight was noticeable, and I was proud they had taken their time. Sometimes, you can rush shots you didn't mean to take in basketball. The Longhorns didn't do that against the Aggies, which was a factor in them winning the game.

1. Was happy to see the three freshmen play tonight

Jordan Lee and Bryanna Preston got a good amount of playing time tonight, which will help their development. I wished Justice Carlton got more time, but I'm not the coach. We discussed how these three ladies have jumped into college basketball and have played meaningful minutes for the Longhorns this season.

They have been a significant part of the team's success and the win against the Aggies tonight. The Longhorns take on Vanderbilt this Thursday.
