Texas Women's Basketball took on the No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks in an anticipated matchup at the Moody Center this afternoon. Longhorn fans wrapped around the Moody Center, waiting to get in to see what felt like the "Super Bowl" of college women's basketball today.

The game did not disappoint one bit. It was a tightly contested game, with the Longhorns upsetting the Gamecocks 66-62. This was a massive win for the Longhorns and a warning to the other SEC teams.

If you are a Longhorns fan, you have to feel good about how the Longhorns handled one of the best college basketball teams in the country today. The Longhorns snapped South Carolina's 57-game win streak in the SEC. It feels like Vic Schaefer and his team won the Super Bowl today, even though the season isn't over yet. The Longhorns can still win the SEC Conference Championship in March. Here are the three takeaways from the win against the Gamecocks this afternoon.

Takeaways from Texas women's basketball's upset win over South Carolina: 3. Madison Booker's redemption game against South Carolina

Madison Booker played much better in the second game against South Carolina than in the first game a couple of weeks ago. Booker finished the game with 20 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Booker attacked the rim and finished strong today against the Gamecocks.

I will forgive the field-goal percentage she finished with today. Today felt like a career game Booker will remember for the rest of the time she plays at Texas. Today was the day she put the SEC on notice.

2. The three freshmen didn't contribute much offensively

The one shocking thing about today's win was that Texas's three freshmen only contributed seven points. I expected to see a higher production from all three players this afternoon. What it does show me, however, is that the three players played team basketball today.

Instead of making the game about themselves, they shared the ball with their teammates on the floor if they had a better shot. Teamwork does win NCAA Championships; ask South Carolina.

1. Feeding off the Moody Center

The Longhorns did better today against South Carolina because they fed off the crowd's energy at the Moody Center this afternoon. They didn't have that crowd energy the first time playing South Carolina this season.

After watching some of the videos Texas Women's Basketball put on X today, I would have had goosebumps before the opening tip-off. That was a heck of a win today for the ladies. The Longhorns will take on No. 11 Kentucky on Thursday night this week.
