Amari Niblack, TE
Junior tight end Amari Niblack is one of the fastest, most agile, and lengthy players the Longhorns have with this position group under Jeff Banks this fall. Niblack has the physical tools and overall athleticism to be one of the top receiving tight ends in the SEC and a future NFLer in the next couple of years, given his insane catch radius and elusiveness at the position.
What has limited Niblack's offensive snaps and inability to make a consistent impact on the field for Texas this regular season is blocking issues and costly mistakes in SEC play. Niblack has been flagged twice on penalty calls in conference play this season, including a costly holding flag for the Longhorns against Vanderbilt on the road in late October.
Niblack's offensive snaps this season have been inconsistently spread out over big games in non-conference play and in the SEC. He's taken at least 20 offensive snaps, largely in the first half of the season opener against Colorado State, and in the dominant Week 11 win in SEC play over the Florida Gators.
But Niblack has also taken single-digit or zero offensive snaps in key games against the Kentucky Wildcats on Senior Day last week, in Week 2 against the Michigan Wolverines, and against Georgia in mid-October. That's not to mention five other games that Niblack has taken a half dozen or fewer offensive snaps this season (per PFF).
Niblack has been the pretty clear third tight end on the depth chart for Banks and the Longhorns this fall, behind seniors Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis.
