Julian Larry, G
Senior guard Julian Larry has been an effective facilitator and distributor for the Longhorns on the offensive end of the floor with the second-guard lineup coming off the bench. Despite only playing just over 20 minutes per game this season, Larry leads Texas with over four assists per game this campaign.
Larry is the only reserve guard in the SEC averaging over five points per game, four assists, and two rebounds, while shooting 45 percent from the field and over 90 percent from the stripe.
His experience and ability to initiate the offense and effectively distribute the basketball to open teammates for high percentage looks from the field is key for Texas's reserve backcourt unit in SEC play.
After a solid run in the non-con, Larry earned more playing time for the Longhorns to start SEC play against Texas A&M in College Station and Tennessee last weekend at the Moody Center at home. Larry made some solid plays moving the ball on offense and being disruptive with his one-on-one perimeter defense in the four-point loss to Tennessee.
But Larry's overall offensive efficiency hasn't been what it was in the non-con to start SEC play. He's shot 30 percent from the field while registering more turnovers than assists in the past two games.
Getting more production from the backcourt reserves will be vital for the Longhorns to improve their depth scoring and to find more success in the win column in ranked SEC games upcoming on the road in the next week against Oklahoma and Florida.
