3 top Texas prospects for the 2025 NBA Draft
Arthur Kaluma, F
Another highly important transfer addition that Terry and the Longhorns got from the portal during the 2024 offseason who will play a pivotal role in the frontcourt rotation is senior forward Arthur Kaluma. The former Kansas State Wildcats and Creighton Blue Jays grad transfer Kaluma is expected to be the starter at the four for the Longhorns this season.
Kaluma is an excellent athlete, thanks to his lengthy wingspan north of 6-foot-8, good strength, and above-average verticality at the four. At 6-foot-7 and 220-pounds, and with the athletic traits Kaluma brings on both ends of the floor, his impact will be felt on the game (especially inside the two-point arc) for the Longhorns immediately.
Offensively, Kaluma is a gifted inside scorer and a tremendous rebounder on the offensive glass. Kaluma is a polished low-post scorer, and he possesses a quality mid-range jumper as a catch-and-shoot threat from the elbow and around the free-throw line.
Kaluma's outside shooting game has also rapidly improved over the past three years. His long-term arc as a three-point shooter is something NBA teams should buy into if he continues to improve his efficiency shooting from deep at Texas this season.
Where Kaluma really excels with scoring on the offensive end is his ability to move off-ball and finding gaps in the defense to get to the basket for easy points. Kaluma is a high-effort player on and off-the-ball on both ends, allowing him to stay active and get open for his team's primary ball-handler.
If Kaluma develops his ball-handling, keeps improving his outside shooting efficiency, and shows out on the defensive end in Terry's system, he could work his way into the second-round draft conversation for next summer in 2025.
