True freshman shooting guard Tre Johnson is easily the Longhorns top projected prospect for the 2025 NBA Draft. Johnson is one of the most gifted scorers and playmakers you'll find in college hoops this season.

Texas just hasn't boasted that type of elite scorer with the top-end length at 6-foot-6 that Johnson brings to the table in a long time. He's the perfect NBA scoring guard in the game today that scouts are looking for in this draft class 2025 next summer.

Johnson can score from multiple levels of the floor in the settled half court offense. He's got a nice shooting stroke and jumper from beyond the arc and the mid-range. Johnson is able to score at high rates from three-point range and 12-16 feet from the basket in the mid-range as a catch-and-shoot threat and off the dribble.

He's got a good feel for the game, and when to pull up over defenders for high-percentage shots, even if they're contested from the field.

Johnson has proven that he's adjusting to the speed and pace of the collegiate game well so far, after he scored over 30 points in a Texas win in a closed scrimmage over the Colorado Buffaloes on Oct. 26.

The former five-star recruit Dallas (TX) Link Academy is also a good rebounder, versatile defender, and is improving his disruptiveness on the defensive end. Johnson should get better on the defensive end of the floor this season and potentially elevate into top 10 or top-five pick status for the 2025 NBA Draft.
