4 big overreactions after Texas's rout of Florida
Quinn Ewers is on the path to being a top 10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft
By the end of the first half, quarterback Quinn Ewers already had over 250 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Ewers took advantage of a good first-half offensive gamplan from Sarkisian and the bye week to prepare for Florida (not to mention getting Isaiah Bond back from a lower-body injury).
Ewers and the Longhorns had one of their best starts on the offensive side of the ball of the regular season in SEC conference play for this campaign. Texas scored multiple touchdowns in each of the game's first two quarters, mostly from passing touchdowns from Ewers to his multiple talented skill players in the receiving corps and out of the backfield.
It's crazy to think that Ewers could've have an even bigger day had it not been for a couple of drops from sophomore wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr.
After an opening drive to the first quarter where the Longhorns drove the field over 40 yards and wound up missing a long field goal attempt, Texas's offense was completely dominant. Texas aired it out all over the Florida defense. And the Longhorns were able to run the ball pretty effectively when they wanted to on offense.
The most important factor here was the Ewers got in a good rhythm and made the most of the plethora of weapons around him that have gotten healthier since the bye week. Ewers led Texas's offense to five touchdowns on six drives to close out the first half.
It's great to see Ewers in complete command of the offense once again. It feels like he was truly able to make a lot of progress to get his rhythm back on offense during the bye week, and it showed during the win over Florida this weekend.
