4 bold predictions for Texas vs. Oklahoma
By Brian Sweet
Texas Football is preparing to face the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game on Saturday afternoon. It's one of the biggest games of the college football season, and it all takes place at this historic Cotton Bowl during the Texas State Fair. Quinn Ewers is expected to return and lead the Longhorns to another SEC victory. Here are four bold predictions for the Longhorns against the Sooners.
Texas Football bold predictions vs. OU: 4. Sooners get ran over
I don't think this will happen, but I think the Sooners are going to get run over by the Longhorns. Based on how the Sooners have played in some games recently, this could end up in a blowout. Just by looking at their game against the Auburn Eagles, I don't know if they could catch up to the Longhorns if they trailed at any point. The Longhorns are motivated by the return of Ewers, and it might be too much for the Sooners to handle.
3. Longhorns running game back to normal
The Longhorns' running game might find its stride after a rough game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs two weeks ago. The main running backs were nursing injuries during that game, and running backs Quintrevion Wisner and Jerrick Gibson carried the workload.
With two weeks off, the injured Longhorns should be back and ready to go, and the running game should level out and make the Longhorns' offense more balanced.
2. Quinn Ewers throws for 400+ yards
Ewers is well-rested and is ready to take on any team that stands in the Longhorns' way. That said, Ewers might throw for over 400 yards against the Sooners this weekend. The chemistry between Ewers and his receivers should remain the same.
I expect Ewers to throw a lot on Saturday, just in case the running game has issues. I can't wait to see how many touchdowns wide receiver Isaiah Bond catches in the endzone of the Cotton Bowl from Ewers.
1. Sooners running game gets shut down
The Longhorns had issues slowing down the Bulldogs' running game a few weeks ago. With two weeks to prepare for the Sooners, they should be ready to slow down their rushing attack. The Longhorns could hold the Sooners to under 125 yards rushing on Saturday afternoon. The Longhorns are due for a redemption arc on the defensive side of the ball after having issues two weeks ago.
