Some of the top in-state running back priorities for RB coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns in the 2026 class will be in attendance for the Texas-Texas A&M game in College Station this weekend.

Two key names to watch among the 2026 running back visitors who will be in the stands at Kyle Field this upcoming Saturday night are Carthage (TX) high-four-star KJ Edwards and Forney (TX) four-star Javian Osborne. The latter of those two blue-chip running back recruits have already made multiple gameday visits to see Texas and Texas A&M this fall.

Texas is battling the Michigan Wolverines and Texas A&M the race to land one of the top running backs recruits in Texas in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking. The Longhorns have the edge over Michigan regarding the proximity to home for Osborne, but so does Texas A&M.

Michigan has made a convincing case early in Osborne's recruitment to set themselves apart under head coach Sherrone Moore. The Wolverines have also had success recruiting top blue-chip skill talents from Texas, including four-star wide receiver commitment Andrew Marsh in the 2025 class.

The relationship that Choice has with Osborne combined with Texas's success recruiting and developing talent at the running back position in recent cycles and the past few years are important factors to watch in this recruitment that will continue to help the Longhorns.
