North Crowley (TX) offensive lineman John Turntine III, who the Longhorns have been pining for since 2023, finally committed to Texas this afternoon. It goes without saying that OC Kyle Flood is incredibly happy, as he was the main point of contact for Turntine III over the past two seasons.

Turntine III (6'3.5", 285 lbs.) was one of the top in-state offensive linemen in the 2026 class, and one of the main reasons is due to his positional versatility in the trenches. Scouts and evaluators have been debating whether or not he'll move to the interior at the FBS level or stick at offensive tackle.

He has more experience at offensive tackle but it's easy to see why some believe that he'll be a better player inside for Texas. His combination of athleticism and play strength "screams" offensive guard, but his lateral quickness and choppy feet might make him a more appealing option for Kyle Flood and Co. at offensive tackle. Turntine III might be one of those guys who begins his career at offensive tackle, but his overall talent and skillset could cause him to be kicked inside just so the team can get him on the field earlier.

Wherever he lands in regards to positional alignment along the offensive line, he'll undoubtedly be an important piece for the program going forward.
