Anthony Hill Jr. shines for Texas's defense

I don't know if this really counts toward bulletin board material, but former Oklahoma offensive lineman and media member Gabe Ikard definitely gave one standout Texas linebacker some motivation coming into Red River this week. Ikard claimed in a breakdown of Texas's defense earlier this week that the Sooners should "attack #0" along their defensive front.

Ikard straight up said that sophomore Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. was the worst starting defender along the Longhorns' front seven.

That take aged like milk from the very start of this game. Hill went off for a career-high (in conference play) eight tackles, one tackle for loss, four defensive stops, and two quarterback pressures in the first half. Hill also single-handedly forced a fumble for the first Oklahoma turnover in this game in the first half, and played a part in helping force the second fumble from the Sooners soon after.

Hill proved that the trust Pete Kwiatkowski and the Longhorns' defensive staff have put in him to quarterback this defensive front at middle backer has paid off in a big game in Red River this weekend. He was tremendous in run support and dropping back into pass coverage for Texas's defense to hold Oklahoma's defense back all game.

In the second half, Hill didn't slow down with his process of tormenting the Oklahoma backfield. Hill finished up this game with double-digit combined tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback pressures, and one forced fumble. This was a career day for Hill, and he proved that he's one of the top linebackers in the SEC, if not the entire country.
