Tre Johnson goes nuclear in the second half

Texas's offense looked like it was on life support after the game's first half against a stiff Aggies' perimeter and post defense. Texas A&M's senior starting guard duo of Wade Taylor and Zhuric Phelps was suffocating Texas's guards with their perimeter defense in this game.

Johnson brought the Texas offense to life pretty much by himself in the second half. He started out pretty slowly out of the gates in this game, scoring six points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field and 0-of-4 from beyond the arc in the first half.

By the halfway point of the second half, Johnson had already scored 20 points for the sixth time this season for the Longhorns. He was hitting shots left and right from mid range and beyond the arc.

Something else that really helped Johnson find his offensive rhythm scoring the basketball in the second half was being able to draw contact and get to the free-throw line. Johnson had double-digit free throws for the first time this season, and all of his 10 attempts from the line came in the second half.

Johnson scored 24 of Texas's 45 points in the second half. He also ended up scoring nearly half of Texas's 70 points as a team in this game.
