Texas dramatically boosts its NCAA Tournament projections
Following this win over the Aggies, the Longhorns have a 2-5 record in Quad 1 games this regular season. If you include Quad 1 and Quad 2 games, the Longhorns have a record of 4-6 in the NET Rankings.
The latest update to Joe Lunardi's ESPN Bracketology projected the Longhorns as the "last team in" for the 68-team NCAA Tournament field for this postseason. Lunardi projects Texas to face the UCF Knights from the Big 12 in an 11-seed play-in game for the NCAA Tournament.
This win over the Aggies gives Terry and the Longhorns their second top-25 victory of the season and their third Quad 1 or Quad 2 victory in the past two weeks in SEC play.
Terry and the Longhorns still have plenty of opportunities to continue building momentum in the win column and reel in more for Quad 1 and Quad 2 victories in the SEC down the stretch this season. Pretty much every SEC game down the stretch is a Quad 1 or Quad 2 chance for the Longhorns tourney resume for the postseason.
As long as the Longhorns can put together more full-game efforts and continue pulling out big wins on home court at the Moody Center, they should be one of the double-digit number of teams from the SEC expected to get into the NCAA Tournament field this March Madness in a couple of months.
