Quinn Ewers shows timing and accuracy leading the offense

This was the version of Ewers that helped lead the Longhorns to big wins during the regular season over the Michigan Wolverines on the road and the Florida Gators in SEC play. Ewers was getting the ball out on time and accurately to keep the offense balanced for the Longhorns.

Ewers showed off his arm talent, completing some impressive on-time intermediate and deep passes to his weapons in the receiving corps in the first and second quarters. He put the ball right in the basket to junior wide receiver Matthew Golden to help set up a scoring run to extend Texas's lead to multiple scores in the first half.

The stat line early in this game didn't really do Ewers' performance justice since his first incompletion wasn't really his first on the interception that bounced off Moore's hands in the second quarter.

Missing junior wide receiver Isaiah Bond due to a high-ankle sprain definitely hurt Texas's passing game with Ewers after the catch and with the end-around calls on offense. Freshman wide receiver Ryan Wingo stepped up with multiple catches and a critical first-down on a motion jet sweep where he made multiple Clemson defenders miss in the first half.

The first really poor throw of the day from Ewers came at a costly time in the second half on a fourth-and-short passing play to Golden that fell incomplete and gave Clemson's offense the ball back down two scores with plenty of time left in the second half.

While Ewers was not as sharp in the second half, he was still solid when he needed to be for most of the game for the Longhorns' passing game on offense. If Texas can stay this balanced on offense while getting this much production from the ground game and relying on Ewers on third down in key situations, the Longhorns will be on a good pace in the Playoff this postseason.
