Arizona State and head coach Kenny Dillingham has reached into the state of Texas for their high school and transfer portal recruiting efforts to build a solid receiving corps in the Big 12 this season.

Not only is the Sun Devils leading receiver from Allen High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, 1,000-yard wideout Jordyn Tyson, but Arizona State has also gotten multiple Longhorns wide receivers from the portal for their receiving corps. Former Texas transfers Troy Omeire and Jake Smith are two former blue-chip recruits for the Longhorns who joined the Sun Devils in the past couple of years in the portal.

Smith was a highly-rated blue-chip recruit who signed with former head coach Tom Herman and the Longhorns in the 2019 class. He was a significant contributor to Texas's receiving corps in 2019 and 2020, registering over 550 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

The super senior wideout from Arizona, Smith has also contributed to Arizona State's return units on special teams in the kick return game.

Omeire was also a blue-chip wideout recruit for the Longhorns, and he signed with Texas in he 2020 class. Due to lower-body injuries at Texas, Omeire only had a couple of targets and one catch in the 2022 season.

Lingering injuries for Smith and wide receiver Mike McClain, along with the season-ending injury Tyson suffered in November, means the Sun Devils could be counting on Omeire to step up in the receiving corps in the Playoff against the Longhorns on New Year's Day.
