4 visiting recruits for the Georgia game Texas could land
Javion Hilson, EDGE
Texas is looking to add a third edge rusher commitment in the 2025 class this fall. The Longhorns already hold EDGE commitments in the 2025 class from Houston (TX) Alief Hastings four-star Smith Orogbo and Texarkana (TX) Pleasant Grove high-four-star Lance Jackson.
Among the visiting recruits from the 2025 class for the Longhorns for the Georgia game this weekend who are on commitment watch, former four-star Florida State Seminoles EDGE commit Javion Hilson is definitely part of that list.
Texas has been trending positively for the past few weeks in this recruitment, since Hilson re-opened his recruitment in early September.
One-time Florida State commitments have filled multiple spots in the Longhorns 2025 class this fall. Texas holds pledges from former Florida State 2025 commitments in four-star defensive lineman Myron Charles and four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon.
It is noteworthy that Florida State appears to have re-entered the race to land Hilson's commitment as of early-to-mid October on the recruiting trail. Hilson took an unofficial gameday to Florida State a couple of weekends ago to see the Noles face Clemson in Tallahassee.
I don't think Texas is as big of a frontrunner in this recruitment for Hilson as it was just a few weeks ago, since Florida State got back in the mix after the successful visit to Tallahassee in early October.
That said, the Longhorns are probably in the best spot for Hilson a couple of months before signing day in early December.
