5 key recruits impressed by Texas's dominant win vs. OU
Lance Jackson, EDGE (Texas commit)
Elite high-four-star Texarkana (TX) Pleasant Grove edge rusher/athlete and Texas commit Lance Jackson is one of the top-rated recruits for the Longhorns in the 2025 class this fall. Jackson was locked in and engaged on social media, watching the Longhorns handily defeat the Sooners in Red River yesterday.
Jackson loved getting to see the Longhorns defense, especially along the front seven, dominate the Sooners at the line of scrimmage. He saw Texas underclassmen on the defensive side of the ball, including sophomore linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and true freshman edge rusher Colin Simmons wreak havoc in Oklahoma's backfield and cause turnovers in the 31-point win yesterday.
Kevin Ford Jr., EDGE
Among the Texas offers from the 2026 class who were in attendance as Oklahoma visitors unofficially for Red River yesterday, four-star Duncanville (TX) edge rusher Kevin Ford Jr. was one of the recruits of note for the Longhorns. Ford has seen the Longhorns play in person for multiple gameday visits this fall.
The blue-chip edge rusher from South Dallas was impressed by the play of his former Duncanville High School teammate, Simmons, and the Texas edge rushers in the big win over Oklahoma. Ford liked what he saw from the likes of Simmons, redshirt junior Trey Moore, and senior Barryn Sorrell as Texas sacked Oklahoma five times in yesterday's win.
Ford is part of Texas's massive visitor list for the highly-anticipated top five matchup against Georgia at DKR next weekend in primetime under the lights.
