5 key recruits impressed by Texas's win over Texas A&M
Jonah Williams, S (Texas commit)
One of the biggest recruiting wins on the for this cycle in 2025 for the Longhorns over the Aggies on the trail was for the elite five-star Galveston (TX) Ball safety/athlete Jonah Williams. Last offseason, Texas A&M had the momentum in this recruitment for Williams.
But the Longhorns ended up winning out for the No. 1 safety recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, securing his commitment late this past summer.
Texas's defense showed its dominance, keeping Texas A&M's offense from scoring a single touchdown in the 17-7 win at Kyle Field in College Station yesterday.
After the game, Williams posted on social media, saying that the win over Texas A&M was just a "regular day" for the Longhorns. He thought it was a great team effort and that he's excited to see what's next for the Longhorns in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia for the second time this season.
Jamarion Carlton, EDGE
Elite high-four-star Temple (TX) edge rusher Jamarion Carlton is one of the top in-state priority recruits for the Longhorns and the Aggies in the 2026 class on the defensive side of the ball. Carlton has made multiple stops to Austin and College Station this fall to see Texas and Texas A&M play in-person.
Carlton was back in College Station this weekend to watch Texas beat Texas A&M in the Lone Star Showdown on Nov. 30.
He got to see Texas's edge rushers make a big impact on the game against Texas A&M's offense, registering multiple sacks and sealing the win with a key forced fumble turnover late in the fourth quarter.
Texas has made a big impression on Carlton with the play of this defensive unit, which caught his attention again in this win over the Aggies on Saturday night.
