Anthony Hill Jr. is a sure-fire Consensus AP All-American

It's hard to argue with the case that sophomore standout linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. made for the MVP of the game for the Longhorns in the convincing 31-point win over the Sooners in Red River. Hill, along with true freshman edge rusher Colin Simmons, sophomore linebacker Liona Lefau, and senior defensive tackle Vernon Broughton, led a stifling effort against Oklahoma's seemingly helpless offense.

Hill was flying around the field, making plays defending the run and helping out in space and dropping back in pass coverage for Texas's defense. It didn't really matter what Oklahoma tried; after the first quarter, it always seemed like Hill and the Longhorns linebackers were there to shut the play down for a short gain or a loss of yardage.

Hill had arguably his best game of the season thus far, registering double-digit combined tackles, along with a career and game-high 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, six defensive stops, and one forced fumble.

Any doubts regarding Hill's ability to fly around the field and handle the duties as Texas's starting middle linebacker were definitely put to rest around halfway through this game in Red River this weekend. Hill performed at an All-American level, which he's done in multiple games for Texas's front seven this campaign.

Hill celebrated postgame after the dominant win over the Sooners yesterday by planting the Longhorns flag at the 50 yardline on a Baker Mayfield OU jersey at the Cotton Bowl. He was clearly motivated to make a statement this weekend against the Sooners in Red River.

"I just felt like it was the right thing to do. I seen all the stuff they posted last year, so I felt it was only right for me to get a little touch on them. I had to post me a little something to make the team, or guys feel good."

After six undefeated games for the Longhorns this fall, Hill leads the team in combined tackles (42), tackles for loss (8.5), and sacks (4.5).
