5-star Texas commit doing his best to calm Sark he's not going to flip

Even though there has been some push from other schools, this five-star commit is doing everything he can to show he is sticking with the Longhorns.

Steve Sarkisian knows getting a commitment from five-star Easton Royal so early in the 2027 recruiting cycle meant that other teams would still come sniffing around for a flip. Even though the Longhorns beat out Texas A&M for the top-ranked wide receiver, other SEC teams haven't stopped their pursuit.

Royal committed to Texas back in November of 2025 as a five-star receiver from the Class of 2027. The New Orleans native chose Texas pretty early, and since then, other SEC schools like LSU, his home school, are still trying to get a flip.

Easton Royal re-affirms Texas commitment with LSU still lurking

The day after Royal committed to Texas, LSU hired head coach Lane Kiffin, and since that day, Kiffin has made it clear he wants to flip Royal from the Longhorns. The Tigers don't like seeing top talent in the state go elsewhere, and Royal has been showing some interest in what Kiffin is offering.

Now, Royal has four official visits set for this summer, saying that even though he is committed to Texas, he isn't going to cut off relationships with other schools. This has Texas fans, and probably head coach Steve Sarkisian, very worried that Royal could leave.

Royal might have just affirmed his commitment, though, as he posted on his social media pages yet again about his commitment to Texas.

Royal is set to take a visit to Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and, of course, LSU, which is his first visit of the season. Texas, however, will be the final official visit of his choices, and it could definitely reaffirm that it is where Royal wants to be.

Even though Royal is still keeping his options open, he has always said that Texas feels like the right place to be, and at this point, that is what Fans and Sark need to hold onto. It is good that Royal's final official visit will be to Austin because the Longhorns can fully seal the deal when it matters most.
