5-Star Texas commit Jonah Williams out for rest of the season
Per Inside Texas, five-star Texas football commit and Galveston (TX) Ball safety/athlete Jonah Williams will miss the rest of the 2024 season due to an injury he suffered this week. Williams reportedly suffered a broken collarbone in Ball High School's two-point loss to Mt. Belvieu (TX) Barbers Hill on Oct. 25.
Texas football's top-ranked 2025 commitment, 5-Star Jonah Williams, suffered an upper-body injury this week that will cause him to miss the rest of this fall
The injury was sustained while Williams was returning an interception against Barbers Hill on Friday.
Before suffering the collarbone injury against Barbers Hill, Williams registered over 50 all-purpose yards, two offensive touchdowns, three combined tackles, and an interception.
This is really unfortunate news for one of the top-ranked recruits nationally in the 2025 class, as Williams was having a stellar senior season for Ball. He was a crucial player for Ball High School on multiple sides of the ball, scoring multiple touchdowns on offense and special teams this fall.
The highlight reel plays Williams made for Ball High School week in and week out shows why he is such a highly rated five-star recruit according to all the major recruiting services for this 2025 cycle.
Williams was also a top playmaker for Ball's defense, registering over two dozen tackles, two pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He also blocked a field goal early in the 2024 season.
Williams is the top-ranked commit in the Longhorns 2025 recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Team Ranking. He is one of three 2025 Texas commits who are rated as five-star prospects, according to 247Sports and On3 rankings, joining Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and Sachse (TX) wide receiver Kaliq Lockett.
The No. 1 safety recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking committed to the Longhorns over the Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks, and Oklahoma Sooners on Aug. 24. Williams took his official visit to Texas earlier this month for the Georgia game at DKR on Oct. 19.
