Five-star Texas football commit and Carrollton (GA) safety Zelus Hicks will visit Knoxville to see the Tennessee Volunteers play this weekend, according to a post by him on X on Oct. 30.
Elite Texas football S commit Zelus Hicks visiting another SEC school this weekend
This visit comes just a couple of weeks after Hicks took an unofficial gameday visit to Texas for the Georgia Bulldogs game on Oct. 19. Hicks will see the Vols host the Kentucky Wildcats in SEC play this weekend for his trip to Knoxville.
This visit comes less than two months after Hicks committed to the Longhorns over the Auburn Tigers, Georgia, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Tennessee. It will be the second time since this past summer that Hicks has visited Tennessee.
Hicks is having a big season for Carrollton High School in Georgia, helping the Trojans jump out to an undefeated 9-0 start this fall.
The 6-foot-2 and 190-pound safety Hicks is one of the elite prospects at his position for the 2026 cycle. He ranks as the No. 29 recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 3 safety, and No. 5 from Georgia.
Hicks is one of three recruits committed to the Longhorns in the 2026 class, and he is the only pledge who plays a position on the defensive side of the ball. Texas also has five-star Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell and four-star Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek wide receiver Chris Stewart committed in the 2026 class.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff have hit the state of Georgia hard on the recruiting trail, landing multiple commitments from the Peach State for the 2025 and 2026 cycles. Hicks, four-star Loganville (GA) Grayson offensive tackle Nick Brooks, and four-star Calhoun (GA) tight end Emaree Winston, have all committed to the Longhorns in the 2025 and 2026 classes from Georgia since last December.
