Texas has been looking to add another pass rusher in the 2026 transfer portal, and it looks like they've found their next target. Tennessee edge rusher Caleb Herring will officially visit campus this weekend, and Will Muschamp undoubtedly wants to make a good first impression.
Herring is currently the 21st-ranked defensive end prospect in the transfer portal, but don't let that ranking fool you; He has lots of teams courting him. South Carolina and Miami might be Texas' biggest competition for him right now.

The 6'5", 245-pound pass rush specialist from Newnan, GA, has been one of the Volunteers' most productive edge players from a down-by-down perspective. Though he's not the most effective against the run, he's an absolute menace when pinning his ears back and getting after the quarterback.
He totaled 14 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 2 pass deflections in 2025 as a sub-package/situational player and he could be even more productive in Texas' new defense in 2026. He'd most likely be a hybrid player in Will Muschamp's defense as he doesn't have the bulk to be an every-down player on the line of scrimmage, similar to Brad Spence's outlook next season.
With Ethan Burke and Trey Moore leaving this offseason, the Longhorns are looking for players who can be consistent alongside Colin Simmons in 2026.
Texas also brought in Kansas State's Wendell Gregory and Florida's Jayden Woods before they committed, so the Longhorns are hoping that they have a better chance with Herring this weekend.
