A potential Texas transfer portal move has 'dream scenario' written all over it

One of the top guards in the AAC just hopped in the transfer portal, and Sean Miller might jump on him.

The transfer portal for college basketball officially opens on April 7th and runs through April 21st, and it's pretty safe to say Texas will be fairly active during that time period, trying to replace multiple guards. Tramon Mark, Jordan Pope, and Chendall Weaver are all out of eligibility, and the team needs to find adequate replacements for them within the next month or so.

One of those potential successors could be USF guard Wes Enis, who's coming off an extremely productive season after leading the Bulls to a 2026 NCAA tournament birth and winning the American Athletic Conference title in March.

Enis entered the portal with a "do not contact" tag, and it wouldn't be surprising at all to see Texas being one of the schools that he's actively considering.

He's a perfect fit for what Sean Miller does offensively, and Texas is undoubtedly one of the top destinations for a player like Enis from a skillset and style perspective as well.

He's a fairly consistent three-point shooter, which could help replace some of the production that Jordan Pope had in that area of the floor. Enis started 29 games for USF in the 2025/2026 season and averaged a healthy 16.4 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.4 APG, and 1 SPG while shooting 39.1% from the floor and having an eFG% of 51.1% overall.

Pairing someone like Enis with Dailyn Swain and Austin Goosby or another transfer in Texas' backcourt next season could result in an even better year than in 2025/2026. Acquiring Enis this month would be a literal dream scenario for Texas' coaching staff, and a major win for the outlook of Longhorns basketball going forward.
