Texas women's basketball returned to Austin as they hosted the Texas A&M Aggies for their yearly game. After beating them in College Station last season, the Longhorns looked to defend their home court and keep the trophy in Austin. The Longhorns got a massive boost from the return of Freshman phenom Aaliyah Crump to the lineup. The fact that she was on the bench was the motivation the Longhorns needed to beat the Aggies by more than 40 points this afternoon.
After the losses on the road against LSU and South Carolina this past week, yesterday was a game the Longhorns needed to get back on track. Give credit to LSU and South Carolina for having a good game plan against the Longhorns.
Here are four takeaways from the blowout victory:
1. Forcing turnovers 101
The Longhorns should have offered a college course for high school basketball players last night. With how good they were at forcing turnovers against the Aggies, Vic Schaefer could have been an adjunct professor for the weekend.
The Aggies were overwhelmed by Texas, which swarmed them on defense, forcing them to turn the ball over quite a bit. That is what the Longhorns are known for: causing havoc on defense and converting it into points. Great game for high school coaches to use to teach their team to be a defensive threat.

2. Third quarter beatdown
The third quarter was probably one of the best defensive quarters the Longhorns have played this season, holding a solid Aggies team to three points. Texas deserves a lot of credit on the defensive end as well. I wish some of this defense was evident in the South Carolina and LSU games this past week. However, yesterday's defensive effort was something the Longhorns needed to get a new win streak going.
3. Texas trio takes care of business
Three players who needed to have a good performances definitely did, and they helped the Longhorns run away with this game. Kyla Oldacre, Rori Harmon, and Madison Booker were instrumental in the victory.
I'm sure future opponents on the Longhorns' schedule are going to take a hard look at how to stop these three.

4. Aaliyah Crump's return comes at a needed time
Even though Crump wasn't the offensive threat that she usually is for the Longhorns, they needed her in the worst way. After losing back-to-back games to LSU and South Carolina, the Longhorns needed something to motivate them in Austin this last night. Just the fact that she was in the lineup against the Aggies was enough to give the Longhorns the victory. Texas hits the road this upcoming week, taking on the Arkansas Razorbacks on Thursday and the Florida Gators next Sunday.
