Bouwmeester is a two-time transfer punter who started his collegiate career with the Michigan State Spartans in the 2019 season. He's a product of the ProKick Australia program that has helped to produce some of the best NFL and college punters in the past decade, including Texas-Ex Michael Dickson, Georgia's George Thorson, and former Colorado punter Josh Watts, among many others.

In 2024, Bouwmeester was one of the highest-graded punters in the Big 12 for Utah, and he ranked third in the conference in yards per punt (44.7). He also led the Big 12 in total punts (60) and punting yards (2,680) this season.

Bouwmeester had over 20 punts of at least 50 yards this season. He led the Big 12 with 23 punts downed inside the 20-yard line (per PFF).

During the 2023 season at Utah, Bouwmeester was a First-Team All-Pac-12 punter. He led the Pac-12 in yards per punt (45.5) for the Utes last season.

In each of the past two seasons, Bouwmeester averaged over four seconds of hangtime per punt, ranking him in the top 25th percentile of P4 punters in those two years combined.

True freshman Michael Kern handling the punting duties for Texas for most of the 2024 season. He's averaged 40.5 yards per punt on 31 punting attempts this season.

Sophomore Ian Ratliff handled the punter duties for the Longhorns in two games this season, averaging 44.0 yards per punt on eight attempts. Ratliff was the punter for the Longhorns while Kern was out for a couple of games due to a lower-body injury earlier this fall during the regular season.

Special teams coordinator Jeff Banks and the Longhorns have used the transfer portal for punting team help before, nabbing grad transfer Ryan Sanborn from the Stanford Cardinal for the 2023 season. Sanborn helped Texas rank top five in the Big 12 in average defensive starting field position in 2023 by averaging over 45 yards per punt for the Longhorns.
