Death, Taxes, and pressure on the Texas football program to win a national championship seem to be the only constants in life right now. Aside from a few things popping up here and there throughout the spring, it's been mostly smooth sailing for Arch Manning and the Longhorns recently.
Now, buzz is beginning to grow as we're only a couple of months away from camp, and more and more preseason rankings start to come out.
Here come the expectations
In FanSided's own Nicholas Rome's "Post Spring CFB Top 25 rankings" for Saturday Blitz, he has the Longhorns at No.1, and it's not hard to see why.
"The hype around the Texas Longhorns isn't going to go away as Steve Sarkisian has a team capable of winning the National Championship this season."
Regardless of whether or not the college football world legitimately believes that this year's Texas team can win it all, the hype will never go away as long as Arch Manning is at quarterback. The expectations have been fully laid out for every member of the 2026 team, and everybody getting another year under their belt in 2025 should help immensely when it comes to the maturity and experience aspect of things.
Arch Manning improved greatly over the final 6-7 games of the season last year, and the offensive line began to find it's rythm as well. It was incredibly relieving to see, as this wasn't the case early on and is essentially what derailed Texas' season during the first half of 2025. It unfortunately caused them to "scrape by" inferior opponents despite being miles ahead in terms of overall talent.
As long as the offense can head into 2026 with a head full of steam, and if Will Muschamp's defense is able to dominate like it should, the sky is the limit for Texas this year.
