After the comeback of a lifetime, Texas quarterback Arch Manning hit his head on the turf, and he clearly hit it hard. The Longhorns' QB exited the game and, luckily, backup quarterback Matthew Caldwell was able to finish the task at hand.
Manning had to be helped up, helped to the sidelines, and helped to the medical tent. Simply put, things weren't looking great for the legacy quarterback.
Yes, Caldwell entered the game and pulled off the overtime win, but it's never a comforting feeling when your starting quarterback looks like he doesn't even know where he is.
Is Arch Manning okay after head injury vs. Mississippi State?
The best news of the bad situation? Manning was able to leave the game under his own power and celebrate with the fans, who had made the journey to Starkville, under his own power.
As he left the field and walked toward the locker room, Manning seemingly locked back into the game after fears that he would be under concussion protocol for at least a game or so. While staff members were still ensuring that Manning walked in a perfectly straight line, he made sure to turn around and celebrate the win with the fans who had made the trip to Mississippi State.

Before exiting the game, Manning led the Horns on a 24-point comeback effort to tie the game and send it into overtime. While he was sidelined for the game-winning plays themselves, he was one of the biggest reasons the Longhorns didn't lose to the Bulldogs.
After the game, head coach Steve Sarkisian, unsurprisingly, didn't share a lot of information about Manning's status, and instead opted to say that he would know more (and share more) on Monday, once the team was back in Austin.
Just seven days after the Mississippi State matchup, Texas was set to host the No. 10 Vanderbilt Commodores, and kick off was set for 11 a.m. CT.
