Arch Manning summed up Texas's unpretty comeback win over Ohio State perfectly

Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns just grew up in front of our very eyes.

The No. 4 Horns were down and out by halftime against the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes, but they mounted a 21-point comeback to defeat a team that previously seemed unbeatable for Texas and secure their second win of the year.

"I was so proud of our guys in all three phases," an elated Manning said. "It wasn’t pretty, but we found a way to win. That’s what good teams do."

And that was the perfect way for Manning to describe the victory. It wasn't perfect; there were mistakes, and Ohio State looked good, but the Longhorns showed more fight, more grit, and more drive as the clock reached closer and closer to zero.

The fourth-quarter comeback showed the growth and maturity everyone had been waiting to see out of a rebuilt and strengthened Texas football team, and it finally gave head coach Steve Sarkisian his long-sought-after win over the Buckeyes and Ryan Day.

"We’ve got a bunch of good players... and leaders," Manning said of his team. "It’s gonna be a fun night."

Manning finished the game with 196 passing yards for one touchdown through the air, but it was undeniably his leadership and poise that pushed Texas to its historic fourth-quarter victory over the Buckeyes.

While the first two quarters were far from ideal, and the two teams entered the locker room with the Buckeyes up 20-3 over the Longhorns. In the third quarter, Texas held Ohio State to only three points, but the Horns weren't able to score any additional points of their own.

The fourth quarter showcased the Texas team we've all been waiting for.

Manning led the Horns on three drives for three touchdowns, and just like that, Texas had finally defeated Ohio State. Just a year ago, Manning's second-half effort to mount a comeback against the Buckeyes fell short, but this time, he got his redemption.

"I had nightmares about our game last year," Manning said. "So, we’re gonna have a good night here in Austin."

The fourth-year quarterback was the picture of maturity during the fourth-quarter comeback, and once the win was official, he was the embodiment of joy.

Sarkisian was even too excited to speak to the media after the game, shouting "Hook'Em Horns" in the direction of the camera before running off to celebrate with the rest of the team. Of course, he still spoke at the postgame press conference, but it was once he'd decided that he had gotten enough of a celebration... for the time being.

Up next, Texas will host the UTSA Roadrunners before they visit the Tennessee Volunteers for their first SEC matchup of the season.
