Arch Manning and Texas' offense was obviously missing something in 2025 despite finishing the year strong, and CBS Sports thinks they'll be able to find it in 2026. We're talking about explosivity regarding Steve Sarkisian's offensive personnel and their ability to hit on the big plays that they've been lacking as of late.
CBS Sports just dropped their predictions for the most explosive offenses in 2026, and the Longhorns' ranking might surprise everyone.
CBS Sports' most explosive offenses heading into the 2026 season
1. Texas
2. Miami
3. Indiana
4. Ohio State
5. Oregon
6. Notre Dame
7. LSU
8. Texas Tech
9. Ole Miss
10. Oklahoma State
The Longhorns have been doing an excellent job this offseason when it comes to player acquisition despite not having the top recruiting or transfer portal classes.
They were able to add 5-star ATH/WR Jermaine Bishop to the receiving room, and he's going to be a true freshman contributor in 2026, there's no doubt about it. His route-running and ability to stop and start on a dime will be hard for Steve Sarkisian to ignore this offseason, and he could find legitimate playing time either in the slot or at "Z".
Texas also added former Auburn WR Cam Coleman and Wake Forest WR Sterling Berkhalter to the roster this offseason, giving Arch Manning downfield receiving threats to pair with Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley V in the short to intermediate game.
The offensive line was also heavily addressed in the transfer portal as the team added OT Melvin Siani, OG Dylan Sikorski, OG Laurence Seymore (Pending eligibility status), and OT Jonte Newman. Two out of these four will likely be starters in 2026 while the other two can sit and develop for the future.
We haven't even mentioned Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers yet at running back, who are two of the most explosive ball-carriers in all of college football. Brown is a gadget-type of player with elite "wiggle" and Smothers is known for breaking big run after big run.
Though it hasn't happened on the field yet, all signs are definitely pointing to Texas being the epitome of explosive this season on offense.
