On Monday, Aug. 18, the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day named Julian Sayin as their starting quarterback.

Just a few hours later, Texas linebacker Colin Simmons made it clear he doesn't care who the starter is for the Buckeyes; he is ready for Week 1.

Simmons, who is projected to have an astonishing season for the Texas Longhorns, shared Ohio State's post announcing Sayin as QB1 without any context. Simmons's entire job when he's on the field? Going after the quarterback.

In other words, Simmons knows exactly who his target is in the Horns' first matchup of the season: first-year starting quarterback Julian Sayin.

The last time Simmons lined up against the Ohio State offensive line, he earned four total tackles and two pass deflections as Texas struggled to slow down the Buckeyes' powerful roster.

This time around, Simmons is out for blood as the Longhorns look for revenge from last year's College Football Playoffs.

Despite entering his true-sophomore season for the Horns, Simmons is expected to be one of the stars of Texas's defense, alongside safety Michael Taaffe and fellow linebacker Anthony Hill Jr.

Sayin has had an unusual path to becoming Ohio State's starting quarterback. He was the No. 2 QB prospect in the class of 2024 and initially committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Then, when legendary head coach Nick Saban retired, he transferred to play for the Buckeyes, just to ride the bench between National Championship-winning quarterback Will Howard.

Against Texas, Howard earned just 289 passing yards, four rushing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Sayin never entered the CFP semifinal game.

In fact, Sayin played in just four games for the Buckeyes last season. He completed just 41.7 percent of his pass attempts for a minimal 84 yards and one touchdown. Simmons could (and should) demolish the young, inexperienced quarterback.

Texas and Ohio State are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 30, when the Longhorns visit the infamous home of the Buckeyes: "The Shoe."

The game will be broadcast on FOX following ESPN's College GameDay, which will include Lee Corso's last-ever appearance on the show and his final headgear selection.
