Progressive Insurance has started airing a series of commercials that include notorious NFL backup quarterbacks as second-string home repairmen – backing up a trailer, hanging a piece of art, and more.

Most recently, former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy is subbed in to take down a wasp nest outside of a house when the supposed husband can't handle the task.

McCoy joined Case Keenum, Josh Dobbs, and Jacoby Brissett as NFL players who have starred in the commercial series. While McCoy's NFL career may have not been exactly what Longhorn fans had hoped for, maybe his acting career can become a backup option for him.

McCoy isn't the only Longhorn to star in a commercial this season. The current Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers can be seen in the Dr. Pepper Fansville commercials as "Deputy Ewers" alongside the sheriff.

Earlier this season, McCoy earned his place in the Texas Longhorns Hall of Fame. When the Horns hosted the UL-Monroe Warhawks, McCoy returned to Darrell K Royal Texas-Memorial Stadium alongside a few other former stars to be honored.

McCoy played for Texas from 2005 until 2009 when he led the Longhorns to a National Championship appearance when Texas lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide following McCoy's in-game injury.

In his final season with the Horns, McCoy won the Davey O'Brien Award, the Maxwell Award, the Manning Award, the Chic Harley Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, and was named the Quarterback of the Year. He was a two-time Walter Camp Award winner (2008 & 2009), won the Archie Griffin Award (2008), was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year (2009), and the Big 12 Freshman of the Year (2006).

McCoy was a unanimous All-American in 2009 and a consensus All-American in 2008. He earned first-team All-Big 12 in 2009 alongside second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2006 and 2008. McCoy's jersey No. 12 was retired by Texas, the sixth jersey ever retired by the Longhorns.
