Following Texas football's second camp practice, players were able to meet with members of the media for a short press conference. One of the first players up was wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr., and he was asked about some of the differences between Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers. His hysterical response immediately stole the show.

"One had baby wheels, and one has super wheels."

He was then asked which one's which, and he responded with:

"Oh, you know."

Though the joke is funny, it's also 100% true. Ewers wasn't necessarily known for his athleticism and mobility while at Texas, but Arch has already shown that he has the speed and "wiggle" to outrun FBS defenses.

Yes, his longest run of the 2024 season came against UTSA, but what folks don't realize or didn't know at the time was that they had 4-star defensive backs in the secondary that transferred in that year. He wasn't just outrunning your "everyday" group of five defenders in that game.

Moore went on to answer another question about the main differences between Manning and Ewers' throwing ability and how Arch's passes have been:

"Arch's football comes with a little bit more of a zip. Quinn's were a little bit more of a pillow, a little bit more of a cushion. He kind of lofted that thing in there, Arch is zipping that thing in there and getting it to you."

Manning has always had an excellent arm, with the ability to make a wide range of throws, both stationary and on the run. In order to do some of those things, you need to have different levels or variations of velocity as well, and you need to be able to differentiate those levels of ball speed.

Over the first two days of fall camp, it's been fairly obvious that Arch has a good feel for how to do that on a consistent basis.
