Temple HS (Temple, TX) 4-star defensive lineman Jamarion Carlton is set to announce his commitment decision today at 4:00 pm. He has offers from 27 schools, including LSU, Baylor, Ohio State, USC, and Michigan.
The 6'4.5", 260-pound defensive end's commitment would give the Longhorns their fifth defensive line commit of the 2026 cycle, and he'd be the highest ranked player at the position as well. There's a good chance that Carlton would be able to come in and compete for rotational reps right away as a true freshman alongside a couple of the other top recruits that Texas already has committed.

He's reportedly deciding between Texas and Baylor today, with most insiders believing that he's leaning towards joining the Bears. Though he's received quite a few crystal balls to Texas, Baylor, and even Texas Tech over the past few weeks, anything can happen when we're talking about in-state recruits.
5-star OT Felix Ojo was supposedly a hard Texas lean leading up to his commitment decision, but then snubbed the Longhorns and committed to Texas Tech on decision day.
Texas defensive ends coach LaAllan Clark has been Carlton's main point of contact throughout the recruiting process, along with defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.
