In a random Instagram live yesterday while walking outside, Desmond Howard decided to make a crazy statement about the University of Texas and its head coaching situation.
"Don’t be surprised if that Texas job opens up at the end of the season. You guys were shocked when LSU opened up. Imagine how you’re going to feel if that job in Austin pops open. I’m not calling or saying anyone’s going to get fired — maybe a mutual parting of ways, you dig?”
Despite the rumors of Sarkisian being open to jumping back to the NFL, Sarkisian himself shot that idea down almost immediately a few weeks ago.
“I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. I thought it was completely unprofessional of that person to put that report out [of him being interested in NFL job openings], and the fact that everyone ran with it is borderline embarrassing for the media. I respect what you guys do, I really do, and everybody else. But the fact that everybody ran that as truth is really embarrassing. I’ve got a small circle when I make decisions on what I do and what I don’t do. Nobody would speak on my behalf without me knowing. So where that report came from, I’d love to talk to that person. Because it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Though he could be fronting that he's not interested in leaving for NFL head coach openings right now, I guess there's always a chance that he could be lying to keep Longhorn Nation happy. Sarkisian has always worn his heart on his sleeve though, and Sark doing something like that doesn't really seem like him.
He's always raved about the University of Texas and the team, so randomly leaving it right now would be incredibly odd. We'll see how things play out over the next few months.
