Following Texas' brutal loss in Athens this weekend, Arch had a few things to say regarding how the team played against the Bulldogs. Whether it was intentional or not, he declined to give any form of credit to Georgia's defense, which played pretty well throughout the entire night.
Shortly after the game in his media presser, Manning was asked if Georgia's defense was intimidating during the game. He responded with:
“We just didn’t play well.”
Though he may not have been in the right state of mind to give props to UGA's defense at that point due to being pretty bummed out, some members of the college football world have taken his response as a slight to the Bulldogs.
In Manning's defense, he did give Georgia credit by saying things like "They played better than us in all three phases tonight" and "Against teams like that, you can't miss any throws. I've got to play well the whole game."
Though it was a tough question for Arch Manning to answer at that point, he probably should've practiced good media etiquette and just used a pro-Georgia response. After all, the Bulldogs' passing defense played better than they had all season after struggling pretty badly in that category leading up to the matchup.
Steve Sarkisian and Co. went into the game thinking that they'd be able to throw the ball all over the Bulldogs on Saturday night, but they obviously weren't able to.
