Tre Johnson had the season of a lifetime during his first year with the Texas Longhorns. Now, fans are eagerly (or anxiously) waiting to hear what Johnson will do next: enter the 2025 NBA Draft or return for his sophomore season.

So, does the Horns' new head coach, Sean Miller, add any more weight to the argument for Johnson's return? Here are a few reasons Texas fans might have hope that he will come back for a second season.

Tre Johnson has yet to announce his decision

It has been nearly three weeks since the Longhorns lost to the Xavier Musketeers in the First Four, and Johnson's freshman season officially came to an end.

Despite that fact, Johnson has yet to share even a hint of what his decision about his future will be. As players across the country and on his own team announce their choices, Johnson has stayed extremely quiet as time dwindles ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Draft is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25. Collegiate players have until 11:50 p.m. ET on April 26 to officially declare for the Draft. However, they then have until June 15 to withdraw their name.

Multiple Longhorns have already announced their return

A handful of Johnson's Texas teammates have already announced that they will return for the 2025-26 season. Jordan Pope, Chendall Weaver, and Tramon Mark have all shared that they will come back to play (at least one season) under Miller as he takes over the Longhorns' program.

If Johnson announced his return, almost all of the starting lineup from last season would return to the 40 acres.

Sean Miller has brought in a lot of veteran talent

Beyond the talented Longhorns who will return for the upcoming season, Miller has brought in a lot of talented recruits from the transfer portal, including his former Xavier guard Dailyn Swain.

While a lot of talent allocated to one roster might deter some players from returning, the veteran lineup could help boost Johnson's Draft stock if he allowed himself to mature over one more collegiate season.

Johnson still has 18 days to decide if he will enter his name into the pool of prospects for the 2025 NBA Draft, and the he would have over two months to decide if he wants to undo that decision.
