Rumors have been spreading that 4-star DT Corey Wells could possibly flip to another SEC school on Wednesday.

The Longhorns have been absolutely dominating along the 2026 recruiting trail when it comes to the defensive line this season. They currently have six blue-chip DL recruits committed, and all of them are expected to reaffirm their pledge to Texas soon. Except for possibly one.

Unfortunately, there have been rumors swirling that 4-star defensive tackle Corey Wells is considering a flip to Auburn soon. Longhorns DL Coach Kenny Baker has been in contact with all of his defensive line recruits, but sometimes there's not much that you can do to stop a player from jumping ship.

Though it's currently just a rumor, when it comes to recruiting, a lot of times when there's smoke there really is fire. It's also usually around this period when flips happen, as the time when commits actually have to sign with schools draws near.

247Sports Recruiting Analyst Steve Wiltfong also put in a flip prediction for Corey Wells in September, reaffirming that the interest is most likely there. Wells also took an official visit to Auburn after he committed to Texas in June.

Corey Wells is a 6'5", 330-pound interior defensive linemen that the Longhorns desperately want to keep in this cycle, as he's an absolute monster. He has incredible length (close to 35" arms) and has a skillset that will allow him to see playing time as a true freshman.

His potential as a run-plugging 1-technique for Texas could be one of the main reasons why they're so attracted to him as players like Cole Brevard and Travis Shaw will be gone following the 2025 season.

Let's see how this one plays out over the next few days.
