Texas football is now just one win away from the College Football Playoff National Championship game after defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils in double overtime in the Peach Bowl quarterfinal on New Year's Day.
Here is everything Texas players said after the unbelievable victory.
Quinn Ewers, QB
"Just so proud of the way the entire team stayed poised and composed throughout the entire game, especially through overtime. It definitely feels a lot better to be on this end of the win in overtime at the same spot."
"You can't really coach or teach experience. The amount of maturity and pose that we have in these games I think has definitely helped us over time."
Andrew Mukuba, S
"On my end, it was all just discpline. My eyes on my man, I was in good position. I looked back for the ball and knew I couldn't drop the ball. Just make a play whenever your name is called."
On the final defensive drive: “We were telling everybody, whatever it takes to get the job done.”
On his game-winning INT: “I’ve been saying this the whole year, this year felt like a movie for me. Coming home, playing my best ball, helping the team. Everything in general just felt like a movie.”
Matthew Golden, WR
When the ball is in the air, you’re “treating that one play like it’s your last play. Telling myself that I gotta make the play regardless of where the DB is.”
On the huddle before 4th-and-13: "Just knowing we had to regroup. Coach Sark called up a great play and the o-line gave Quinn to deliver that ball and I just came down with it."
On his 4th-and-13 TD catch: "That was a blessing. I'm a big believer in faith and I just feel like God was preparing me for that situation. Having Him there and my brothers around me, there's just no better feeling."
Quintrevion Wisner, RB
On Quinn Ewers: "Quinn's a dog. Anytime we need it, he's going to get it. That's who he is, as our leader.
On Matthew Golden: "When he's at practice he's practicing how he is going to play in the game. It translates to the game."
Jahdae Barron, DB
"It's fun when guys say what they say before the game. That's just (Cam Skattebo's) confidence level and things like that. But just to go out there with my guys and just to keep fighting, I think we keep fighting. If we had a penalty and they got another drive, another play, we just continued to fight. I think ultimately, that's what it means and what a brotherhood means, and the culture and level of bond that we share here."
Alfred Collins, DL
On Mukuba’s INT:. “I had butterflies. So happy, man. It was just a special moment, man. I don’t have words. I was just happy.”
Gunnar Helm, TE
“So proud of these guys. There’s a lot of fight in this team, and I can’t wait to see what we do next week.”
