3-star Miami Central HS (Miami, FL) linebacker Karon Maycock has officially announced that he'll be taking an official visit to Texas after receiving an offer from Steve Sarkisian and Co. yesterday (10/23).
Maycock, a 6'1", 210-pound stalwart at the 2nd-level for Miami Central's defense, also holds offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Miami, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.

Maycock's currently ranked as the No.50 overall linebacker recrut in the nation according to 247sports' composite rankings. As a junior in 2024 he totaled 62 tackles, 17 TFL, 3 PBUs, 3 sacks and 2 FFs in 8 games at Miami Central.
He's an incredibly athletic and physical player despite being undersized, and he has an excellent frame. He can easily add 20-30 pounds of muscle at the next level without sacrificing speed or agility. Maycock's also shown great instincts and discipline as a linebacker, consistently reading his "keys" and limiting over pursuit on stretch plays. His athleticism, skillset, and football IQ allows him to be moved around the defense as well, even leading some to believe that he could play safety at the next level.
According to Noles247's Dane Draper:
"Maycock doesn't solely play linebacker at powerhouse prep program Miami Central, as he also mans safety positions around the defense, often lining up in the slot or somewhere surrounding the box.
High-level athleticism is always helpful in football, but Maycock's range and fluidity in space make him an extremely promising prospect as a coverage player at the second level. He's someone that can make impact plays in the run-game while maintaining his gap and beating blocking angles on standard downs, as well as being a defender in coverage on passing downs that an offense cannot easily exploit."
Maycock is the epitome of a modern-day linebacker, and one that would undoubtedly be a welcomed addition to Texas' 2026 class if he decides to make a flip to Texas at some point.
