Steve Sarkisian has pulled off the improbable once again. Over the weekend, the Horns' head coach received a huge commitment when five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley announced he was set on the Texas Longhorns.

Wesley, who was initially committed to the Oregon Ducks, has had a less-than-typical recruitment process, decommitting from Oregon on May 27 just to visit the Ducks less than two weeks later. Then, he took an official visit to Austin on June 20 and committed to the Horns just two days later.

Wesley is one of the top prospects in the country, earning the No. 4 overall ranking as an EDGE and the No. 5 spot out of the state of California.

Over two seasons of varsity football, Wesley has already amassed 94 total tackles (56 solo), including 27.5 tackles for loss. He also earned 23 hurries and 18.5 sacks, while contributing three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two pass deflections.

Despite decommitting from Oregon, recruiting sites like On3 still gave the Ducks a favorable chance to land Wesley's commitment. Now, the Longhorns have bragging rights, and Sarkisian is rapidly amassing yet another top-tier recruiting class.

After bringing in the No. 1 nationally ranked class of 2025 prospects, Sarkisian's class of 2026 is quickly rising in the rankings, currently residing at No. 10 in the country. Wesley's commitment was the second five-star recruit to decide on the Longhorns for their future.
