This news comes after Finkley announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal during the winter window on Dec. 13. He played six games for the Longhorns this season, registering five combined tackles and six quarterback pressures. Finkley played double-digit defensive snaps in P4 games against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 2 and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Finkley stayed to practice with the Longhorns through the postseason as Texas made the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Cotton Bowl.

He had a bigger role at Texas in his first two seasons on campus. Finkley played over 400 defensive snaps, including over 250 snaps against P5 competition (per PFF), during his freshman and sophomore campaigns since 2022.

Finkley was Texas's highest-rated edge rusher signee in the 2022 recruiting class. He picked the Longhorns over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan, Colorado Buffaloes, and Auburn Tigers as a four-star prospect out of Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville, AL.

He ranked as the No. 116 prospect nationally in the 2022 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 12 edge rusher, and No. 6 from Alabama.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.
