Former Texas football head coach Tom Herman gets axed once again

Tom Herman has been fired once again. The University of Texas graduate and former Longhorn football head coach was fired by Florida Atlantic on Monday morning after leading the team to an abysmal 6-16 record over less than two years.
Herman, who coached the Horns from 2017 until 2020, has made a name for himself as one of the most intolerable coaches to work with or against. With a less-than-impressive record at FAU, his current team decided it wasn't worth keeping him around, even with a $4.1 million buyout in place.
So far this year, Herman led the Owls to a horrific 2-8 start and as rumors of the head coach looking for a new job started to pop up, FAU decided it was time to let its head coach go. reportedly, Herman spent the last few weeks looking for jobs as an offensive coordinator amongst Power Conference teams but had yet to find a new landing spot when FAU shared the team was letting Herman go.
Most people weren't surprised to hear that Herman had failed to land a job as a Power Conference OC, especially after putting up just 22.1 points through the first 10 games of the year – including an embarrassing 7 points versus the Army Black Knights and 10 points against the Wagner Seahawks.
Earlier this season, Herman made headlines after blowing up on USF head coach Alex Golesh when the Bulls head coach ignored Herman's postgame remarks.
While at Texas, Herman led the Longhorns to four bowl-game victories but his behavior away from the games got him in trouble. Herman, at one point, flipped off a Longhorn Network camera and repeatedly rubbed Texas fans the wrong way.
The Horns fired Herman in January of 2021 after he failed to ever win the Big 12 Championship game and couldn't find consistency against the Oklahoma Sooners (1-3 record), one of Texas' biggest rivals.
